Dear Napa,
Over ten years ago this journey began, and a tight knit community in Northern California embraced a young twenty-something kid from New Jersey as one of its own, offering me the thrill of a lifetime. Those early days were so fun, so scary, so pure. I woke up every day with a belief in the future of the restaurant, and it was your steadfast support that gave me the strength to keep going. We have been through a lot of seasons together. You have seen me grow from a young kid to husband and father. Ali and I have been able to build a life in this town, and we have loved raising our children here.
You have had a front row seat to our successes and our failures. Our good bets and our bad. Through it all, we have felt your support.
This is a hard thing to write, but the time has come to close the book on Heritage Eats. As an established business in town, we have learned a lot about what locals have enjoyed and not enjoyed about our business over these ten years.
To use an analogy that should make sense to many of us...Sometimes you need to replant the vines.
Please join us over the next month or so as we look to give Heritage Eats a proper sendoff. It has been a special place. A special restaurant. I’m proud of it and will be forever grateful for it.
So, what’s next? We are busy working on a completely new restaurant idea for the current space that has helped to reignite our mission and create something new for our local community. The new concept, ‘George & Kin’s’, is a deeply personal one to me and my family and bridges my Japanese heritage with my East Coast upbringing. It tells the story of my great aunt and uncle, George and Kinuko, who brought my mom in as a young child and raised her on their farm in Pocatello, Idaho. They were the closest thing to grandparents that my sisters and I ever had. We will have more to share on what George & Kin’s will be over the next little while, but, for now, the focus is on Heritage Eats because it deserves it.
Your support of our next endeavor would mean the world to me, Ali, and our entire restaurant family.
Be light,
Ben

Our journey home
To say Heritage Eats has been an amazing journey is an understatement. It literally began on an adventure!
After traveling the world in 2014, we were inspired by the homes, families, and meals that welcomed us across different countries—rice bowls, bao buns, local spices, and street food with soul. That adventure sparked an idea: to bring those global flavors together under one roof, right here in Napa.
In 2015, Heritage Eats was born. And as Wine Country warmly welcomed us into the community, we started blending the flavors we’d gathered abroad with the ones that reminded us of home—burgers, tacos, and of course, our now-infamous DiRtY fries. What came out was something familiar yet unexpected: comfort food with a global twist.
Then came 2020—and the world changed. Like so many small businesses, we hit a serious road bump. But thanks to you—our Napa family—we didn’t stop. We pivoted, we hustled, and we made sure our food could make it to your home, even if you couldn’t come to ours.
Since then, our journey hasn’t just been about food—it’s been about family. We’ve grown as a team and as a family (literally!), and in 2025 we gave Heritage a new look—a full remodel designed to feel warm, welcoming, and lived in. Just like the homes that inspired us in the first place.
Today, Heritage is more than a place to eat. It’s a place to gather. A neighborhood spot where kids can be kids, the game’s on in the background, and there’s always something good on the table. Whether you’re coming in for a quick bite or settling in for dinner with friends, we want you to feel like you’re right at home.
From our travels to yours, from our family to your table—thank you for being part of the journey. We’re just getting started.
